Set in the heart of Maiera’s historic centre, with its labyrinth of narrow streets and stairways, Maiera has a magical feel and strong sense of history. Artworks and murals painted on the walls create unexpected bursts of colour. Maiera’s amenities include bars, a pizzeria, a pharmacy, a butcher and a local shop. Calabria is famous for its Chillies and Maiera even has its own Chili Museum! (Below) Check out their web site! http://www.peperoncino.org/old/museo.htm
The village has a real sleepy almost dreamy feel to it. Away from the hustle and bustle of the local coastal towns and because of its height it is thankfully slightly cooler in the summer.
